PhishDestroy identifies metamzklganx.gitbook.io as an active phishing domain impersonating Metamask® with a credential-harvesting login page titled Sign_in to Wallet | MetâMãsk® | Log_in | US | *. This site is part of a broader crypto drainer campaign designed to trick users into surrendering wallet credentials and ultimately emptying their crypto holdings through fake wallet connection flows.
The domain resolves to IP 172.64.147.209 via Cloudflare and was registered on March 30, 2014. Google Safe Browsing does not currently list it, but VirusTotal shows 5 out of 95 security vendors flagging the domain with a restrictive verdict. The SSL certificate is issued by Google Trust Services, which may lend false legitimacy to unsuspecting users. Despite its age, this domain has been repurposed in recent campaigns to deploy fake Metamask login pages and script-based wallet drainers targeting Web3 users.
At the time of analysis, the site remains accessible and active. Immediate takedown requests have been escalated to Cloudflare and GitBook, though takedown response times may vary. Users are strongly advised to verify any wallet-related login URL using PhishDestroy before entering credentials. The elevated risk profile stems from the combination of a seemingly benign host, SSL encryption, and direct brand impersonation. Remaining risk includes prolonged availability pending host response and potential lateral movement to similar typo-squatted domains, particularly given the domain’s longevity and expired registration oversight.
