wswsweb-whatsapp.com is an impersonation phishing domain that borrows the WhatsApp name, and its wording suggests it imitates the WhatsApp Web login. It targets WhatsApp users who might mistake it for the official service. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-15, two days after it was registered. As of 2026-10-19 the domain still resolves, but its page content could not be loaded.
How the scam works
Fake WhatsApp Web pages usually show a copy of the login screen with a QR code or ask for a phone number and verification code. Scanning that code or entering the code links the attacker's session to the victim's account. The attacker can then read chats, impersonate the victim to their contacts, and send further scams or money requests. When last loaded, the page title read "Search - Microsoft Bing", which does not match the WhatsApp impersonation we classified.
Evidence
On VirusTotal, 7 of 92 engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-19: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue, SOCRadar and VIPRE. Detection is still limited, so many security products will not yet block it. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and identified WhatsApp as the targeted brand. The domain is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist and appears in 4 AlienVault OTX pulses.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-10-13 through EU Technology (HK) Limited. It resolves to 188.114.96.3 on the Cloudflare, Inc. network, geolocated to Canada. The site uses a TLS certificate from Let's Encrypt (YE2), so the padlock in the browser shows only that the connection is encrypted, not that the site is genuine.
What to do
Do not open this domain. Use WhatsApp Web only by typing the official address yourself. If you scanned a QR code or entered a code on it, open WhatsApp on your phone, go to Linked Devices and log out every session you do not recognize. Turn on two-step verification, and warn your contacts that messages sent in your name may be fraudulent. Defenders should block the domain at DNS, proxy and email gateways, and watch for lookalike domains that combine the WhatsApp name with random prefixes.
