PhishDestroy threat report
tetherelitefinance.com presented itself as "Tether Elite Finance," a polished-sounding offshoot that borrows the name of the stablecoin issuer to win the trust of crypto holders, especially people who keep savings in USDT. PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page and first flagged it on 2026-09-12. The site went offline on 2026-09-20, and as of 2026-10-19 its DNS no longer resolves.
The page title, "Home | Tether Elite Finance," shows the pitch: a branded portal that implies an official or affiliated Tether service. Schemes built this way typically offer premium yields, "elite" accounts or managed USDT products, then ask visitors to register, hand over login or wallet details, or send stablecoins to a deposit address the operators control. Funds sent this way cannot be recovered on-chain, and any credentials entered can be reused against the victim's real exchange or email accounts. Tether does not run a separate investment platform under this name.
Four of 89 VirusTotal engines (alphaMountain.ai, Fortinet, PhishFort and SOCRadar) flagged the domain in a check on 2026-09-21. That is a low count, but PhishFort specializes in crypto brand abuse, which makes its verdict particularly relevant here. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL under the phishing category, and it appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so researchers outside PhishDestroy reached the same conclusion independently.
The domain was registered on 2024-07-02 through OwnRegistrar, Inc., more than two years before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests either a long-held domain put to use later or an operation that ran quietly for a long time. It was hosted on the TREFOIL network in Nigeria and served over HTTPS with a certificate from the E5 issuer. The padlock only shows the connection was encrypted and says nothing about whether the site was legitimate.
If you deposited USDT or other crypto through this site, stop sending money. Ignore any follow-up requests for "unlock," "verification" or "withdrawal" fees, which are standard in these schemes. Report the transfer to your exchange and to local police with your transaction IDs. If you entered a password, email or exchange login, change it everywhere you reused it and turn on app-based 2FA. Never type a seed phrase into any site. If you did, move remaining assets to a new wallet immediately. Defenders should block the domain and watch for lookalike Tether-themed names, since the site is now down.

An estimated time describes an observation window. It does not prove a registrar action or the exact moment a site became unavailable.
