PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

project-mainnetnode.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page that presented itself as "DappsTools", a generic-sounding toolkit for decentralized apps. Together with the "mainnetnode" name, it was built to look like a technical support or node-sync service for crypto wallet holders. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-05. The site went offline on 2026-09-16, and as of 2026-10-19 its content remains blocked by the hosting provider.

How the scam works

Pages styled as "DappsTools" usually pose as a neutral fix-it portal. They tell visitors their wallet needs to be synced, validated, migrated or rectified to clear a supposed error with a network or airdrop. The "fix" requires connecting a wallet and then typing in the seed phrase or private key, or signing a transaction the victim does not understand. A typed recovery phrase gives the operators full and permanent control of every asset in that wallet, and a malicious signature can authorize transfers out of it. No legitimate dApp tool ever asks for a recovery phrase.

Evidence

Independent detection was thin. When scanned on 2026-09-17, only 1 of 89 VirusTotal engines, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, marked the address as malicious. The PhishDestroy blocklist is the only list carrying it. That low score is typical for short-lived phishing on a shared hosting platform, and it is why a clean scan should not reassure anyone who landed on this page.

Infrastructure

The site was a free Cloudflare Pages deployment created on 2026-09-02, just three days before PhishDestroy caught it. It sat on Cloudflare, Inc. network space geolocated to Canada. It used a Google Trust Services certificate issued automatically to such deployments, so the padlock in the browser said nothing about who was behind it. Throwaway subdomains like this cost nothing to spin up, which is why the operators can abandon them quickly once they are blocked.

What to do

If you entered a seed phrase or private key on this page, treat that wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet with a fresh phrase and move any remaining funds to it immediately. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, review and revoke token approvals granted around that time, and watch for unexpected outgoing transfers. Report any losses to the relevant wallet provider and to local authorities. Defenders should block the domain and watch for lookalike pages.dev subdomains using "DappsTools", "mainnet" or "node" naming.
