How the scam works
Lookalike casinos like this one rely on the trust players already place in a known brand. The "new-" prefix suggests an official relaunch or mirror. Victims are pushed to sign up and fund an account with cryptocurrency, often with an inflated welcome bonus as bait. Balances may appear to grow, but withdrawals stall behind invented verification steps, "unlock" deposits or fees. Every coin sent is lost, and any login details or identity documents handed over can be reused against the victim.
Evidence
On 2026-09-29, 15 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, Bfore.Ai PreCrime, CRDF and CyRadar. That is a solid showing for a site barely two months old. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and matched it to the Stake brand. The domain sits on the PhishDestroy, MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, so MetaMask users should see a warning before the page loads. It also appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-08-03 through Hosting Concepts B.V. (Registrar.eu), about 47 days before PhishDestroy detected it. The short gap fits a domain bought specifically to run this campaign. The site sits behind Cloudflare, with the edge address geolocated to Canada, so the real origin server stays hidden.
What to do
Do not deposit anything on new-stake.org. Stop sending funds, and refuse any request for a fee, tax or extra deposit to release a balance, because these payments are never returned. If you created an account there and reused that password elsewhere, change it and turn on two-factor authentication on your real casino and exchange accounts. Report any transfers to your exchange and to local authorities with transaction IDs, and treat anyone offering to recover the money as a second scam. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and watch for similar Stake-themed lookalike registrations.
