mew-io.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page hosted as a free Cloudflare Pages project. Its name copies "MEW," the common shorthand for MyEtherWallet, which points at Ethereum wallet users. PhishDestroy flagged it on 2026-09-05, one day after it was created. The site has been offline since 2026-09-15, and the hosting provider has blocked its content, which was still the case on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
Pages like this present a copy of a trusted wallet interface and ask visitors to "access" or "restore" their wallet. In MEW-style phishing, the victim is pushed to type a recovery phrase or private key, upload a keystore file, or connect a wallet and sign a request. Whatever is entered goes to the operator, who can then empty the wallet. The page carried only the generic title "Home," which does not show any brand even though we classified the site as brand impersonation.
Evidence
Google Safe Browsing lists the site under SOCIAL_ENGINEERING, the category browsers use to warn users about deceptive pages. On VirusTotal, 2 of 89 engines (alphaMountain.ai and LevelBlue) flagged it as of 2026-09-17. That count is low, so most security tools would not have stopped a visitor. The site is also on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
Infrastructure
The project went live on 2026-09-04 and was detected within about a day. That short lifespan is typical of disposable phishing pages that use a free subdomain on a reputable platform. Traffic was served through Cloudflare's network, with the IP located in Canada. The Google Trust Services certificate is the default for this platform, so the padlock shows only that the connection was encrypted. It says nothing about whether the site was genuine.
What to do
If you typed a recovery phrase or private key, or uploaded a keystore file on this page, treat that wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet on a device you trust and move any remaining funds there immediately. If you connected a wallet and signed anything, review and revoke token approvals using a reputable approval checker. Open MEW only from a saved bookmark, never from links in ads, messages or search results. Defenders should block the domain and watch for similar MEW-themed subdomains on free hosting platforms, since they appear and disappear quickly.
