ledger-site-eng.pages.dev is a phishing page that impersonates Ledger, presenting itself as "Ledger Device Setup - Secure Your Crypto Assets." It targets people who own or have just bought a Ledger hardware wallet and are looking for setup help. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-31. The site went offline on 2026-09-12 after the hosting provider blocked its content, and it was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
Fake Ledger setup pages exploit the moment a new owner is most willing to follow instructions. The visitor is guided through what looks like an official onboarding flow and is eventually asked to type their 24-word recovery phrase, often framed as a step to verify, sync or secure the device. Ledger never asks for that phrase on any website. Anyone who enters it gives the attacker full control of every account behind it, and the funds can be swept to the attacker's wallet without the physical device ever being touched.
Evidence
On 2026-09-12, 4 of 89 VirusTotal engines marked the site as malicious: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and LevelBlue. That count is low, which is common for short-lived pages on shared hosting, so most browsers and security tools would not have warned visitors. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and detected the Ledger brand on the page. MetaMask and SEAL independently list the domain alongside PhishDestroy.
Infrastructure
The page ran as a free Cloudflare Pages subdomain. Attackers often choose this kind of hosting because a project can be published in minutes and inherits the reputation of a widely trusted platform. The project dates to 2025-09-06, almost a year before PhishDestroy detected it. Traffic was served through Cloudflare's network, with the IP located in Canada.
What to do
If you typed your recovery phrase into this site, treat the wallet as compromised. Reset your Ledger or use a new device to generate a fresh phrase, then move all remaining assets to the new accounts immediately, starting with the most valuable. Set up your device only through Ledger Live or the instructions shipped with the device, and never enter your recovery phrase into a browser, form or chat. Defenders should block the domain and watch for similar Ledger-themed subdomains on free page-hosting platforms.
