It carried the page title "GFO-X" and used a lookalike domain that adds an "-xm" suffix to the brand name, a pattern meant to pass a quick glance from crypto traders. How the scam works
Impersonation sites like this copy the name and look of a known trading platform so that visitors believe they are on the real service. Six of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-16: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. The wallet-focused blocklists of MetaMask and SEAL also carry the domain alongside PhishDestroy, and it appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-04-13 through Cloudflare, Inc., about five months before it came to PhishDestroy's attention. That gap suggests the operators held the name in reserve before putting it to use. The site sat behind Cloudflare's network, with the serving address geolocated to Canada, so the real origin server is hidden. Its free Let's Encrypt certificate gave it the browser padlock, which says nothing about whether a site is legitimate.
What to do
If you entered a username or password on gfo-xm.com, change it immediately on the genuine platform and on any other service that uses the same password, then reset two-factor authentication. If you sent a deposit, stop all further payments and refuse any "withdrawal fee" or "tax" requests, because these only add to the loss. Report the transfer to your bank or the exchange you sent it from and keep every transaction record.
