PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

This Netlify-hosted page impersonates CoinMarketCap under the title "CoinMarketCap Community Listing Vote." It targets crypto users who follow token rankings and listing campaigns. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-08. As of 2026-10-19 the address still resolves, but its root page serves no content, so the lure may have been moved, paused or placed on a deeper path.

How the scam works

Fake listing votes play on the hype around a token getting ranked on a major tracker. The victim is told their vote or support will push a coin onto CoinMarketCap, then asked to connect a wallet or sign in to take part. In schemes like this, that step is where the theft happens. A wallet signature can hand a stranger permission to move tokens, and a login form passes credentials straight to the operator. CoinMarketCap does not run voting through throwaway subdomains like this one.

Evidence

Seven of 89 engines on VirusTotal flagged the page as of 2026-09-18: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, Sophos, VIPRE and Webroot. That count is modest, but these are independent vendors reaching the same verdict. The domain also appears on the MetaMask, ScamSniffer and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy. Those lists are maintained specifically to protect wallet users, so their inclusion points to a wallet-facing lure.

Infrastructure

The site is a free subdomain on Netlify, a common choice for short-lived phishing pages because new ones can be spun up in minutes. It is served from Amazon network space in Germany. The DigiCert certificate is the standard one Netlify issues for its subdomains. The padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about who runs the page.

What to do

If you connected a wallet or signed anything on this page, revoke all token approvals and permissions granted around that time with a reputable approval-checking tool. If you signed a broad permission, move any remaining funds to a fresh wallet. If you typed in a password or email for a CoinMarketCap or exchange account, change the password and turn on app-based two-factor authentication. Never enter a seed phrase on any "vote" page. Defenders should block the domain, report it to Netlify for takedown, and watch for similar ranking and listing-vote themes on other free hosting subdomains.
