chain-spirit.com is an impersonation phishing page that posed as Coinbase to target people who hold accounts or wallets with the exchange. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-17. It went offline on 2026-09-18, and when checked on 2026-10-19 it was still dead, with its content blocked by the provider.
How the scam works
Coinbase impersonation pages copy the exchange's look so a visitor believes they are on the real sign-in or wallet screen. They then ask for an email and password, one-time 2FA codes, a recovery phrase, or a wallet connection, and anything entered goes straight to the operators. With that access, attackers can log into the account and move funds out, or empty a self-custody wallet. The page carried only the generic title "Loading…", while the content behind it was identified as imitating Coinbase.
Evidence
urlscan.io rated the site malicious and matched it to the Coinbase brand, which is the main basis for the impersonation verdict. On VirusTotal, only ChainPatrol out of 89 engines flagged it as of 2026-09-17. Low coverage like that is common for a phishing domain caught within days of launch. Crypto-focused defenses moved faster: MetaMask and SEAL list it alongside PhishDestroy, and it appears in one AlienVault OTX threat pulse.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-09-12 through Fewmoretaps OU, trading as Trustname.com. PhishDestroy detected it just five days later, and it went dark the next day, a short lifespan typical of throwaway phishing domains. It was served from Cloudflare, Inc. network space at 104.21.96.16, geolocated to Canada, which hides the true origin server behind the proxy.
What to do
If you typed your Coinbase email and password here, change the password at once from the official app or a bookmarked address. Reset 2FA, prefer an authenticator app or security key over SMS, and review active sessions, API keys and recent withdrawals. If you entered a recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move the funds to a new wallet created from a fresh phrase. If you connected a wallet, revoke any approvals granted around that time. Defenders should block chain-spirit.com and watch for lookalike domains registered through the same channels.
