PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

wishwork.skin presented itself as "Wishworkskins — Vote for CS2 Workshop Skins, Charms & Stickers". It was a fake community voting portal aimed at Counter-Strike 2 players and skin traders. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-08, one week after the domain was registered. The site has been offline since 2026-10-17, and its content was blocked by the provider when we last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake Workshop voting sites usually arrive through a friendly message or a Discord DM asking the player to vote for a friend's skin, charm or sticker design. To cast the vote, the visitor is asked to sign in with their game account, often through a fake login window that looks like a real sign-in popup. Whatever is typed there goes straight to the operators. With that access they can empty inventories, redirect trade offers or lock the owner out. The prize is the victim's skin collection and the account itself.

Evidence

Seven of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-12: alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CyRadar, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and Kaspersky. That is a modest count, but it comes from several unrelated vendors that reached the same conclusion within days of launch. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as a spam domain, which fits the unsolicited message lures these campaigns depend on. The domain is also on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Hosting Concepts B.V. (Registrar.eu) on 2026-10-01 and was already serving the lure when we caught it seven days later. That short gap is typical of throwaway domains built for a single campaign. The site was hosted on the ExpressHost Ltd network, registered in Great Britain, on a server located in the Netherlands. It used a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser said nothing about whether the site could be trusted.

What to do

If you signed in on this site, change your game account password right away and confirm your two-factor authenticator is still linked to your own device. Log out all other sessions and remove any API keys or authorized apps you did not create yourself. Then review your pending and recent trade offers for anything you did not initiate. Warn the friend or contact who sent you the voting link, since their account may already be compromised. Defenders should block the domain, add the hosting IP to watchlists and look for similar recently registered voting-themed domains spread through gaming chats.
