Overview

usdt.qr-global.com presents itself as a "Tether (USDT) QR Code Generator", using Tether branding to attract people who want a quick way to share or scan a USDT payment address. PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page and first flagged it on 2026-09-06. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content, so anyone looking for a USDT QR tool can still land on it.

How the scam works

A QR generator is an effective lure because users rarely check what a code actually contains. They paste an address, get an image, and share it or pay through it. A malicious generator can encode a different address than the one entered, so funds sent by scanning the code go to the operator instead of the intended recipient. It can also push visitors to connect a wallet or enter recovery details under the pretext of verifying a Tether account. Either way, the loss is USDT sent to the wrong party, and those transfers cannot be reversed. The page title advertises a utility tool, while our classification is impersonation phishing.

Evidence

urlscan.io rated the page malicious and identified Tether as the impersonated brand, which matches the page title. On VirusTotal, 4 of 89 engines flagged it as of 2026-09-20: CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a low count, so most security products will not block the site, and our own blocklist entry is currently its main listing.

Infrastructure

The parent domain qr-global.com was registered on 2025-10-27 through Hosting Concepts B.V. d/b/a Registrar.eu, about ten months before we detected the USDT page. The gap points to an established domain whose subdomain was set up or repurposed for a specific brand, not a throwaway registration. The site sits behind Cloudflare, with the address geolocated to Canada, which hides the actual origin server.

What to do

If you created a QR code on this site, do not share or reuse it. Decode it with a trusted scanner and compare the address character by character against your own. If you paid by scanning one of its codes, save the transaction hash and report it to the exchange or wallet provider involved as soon as possible. If you connected a wallet, revoke any approvals it granted. If you typed a seed phrase, move your funds to a new wallet immediately. Defenders should block usdt.qr-global.com, watch for other brand-themed subdomains under qr-global.com, and warn payment and support teams that third-party USDT QR generators can swap destination addresses.
