PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

rympc.com is a phishing site that presents itself as Capital One Financial. It is aimed at the bank's customers and tries to convince them they are on a genuine Capital One page. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-30. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its fake content, so it remains a live risk to anyone who lands on it.

How the scam works

The page carries the title "Capital One Financial" so that it looks legitimate in a browser tab, a search result or a link inside a text message or email. Brand-impersonation pages like this usually copy a bank's sign-in flow and ask for a username and password. They often follow up with requests for one-time codes, card numbers or identity details. Everything typed into the form goes to the operators, who can use it to take over online banking, move money, or open fraud in the victim's name. The domain name has nothing to do with Capital One, which is the clearest giveaway.

Evidence

Six of the 91 engines on VirusTotal flagged the domain as of 2026-10-06: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, so many browsers and security tools may still let it load without warning. Besides PhishDestroy, the domain is listed on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists. It also appears in one AlienVault OTX threat pulse.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-24 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. It was serving phishing content just six days later, which fits a short-lived, purpose-built scam domain. It resolves to cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Corporation's network in Japan. Its Let's Encrypt certificate means the padlock icon only shows that the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

If you entered Capital One credentials on this page, change your password right away using the official app or by typing the bank's address yourself. Then contact Capital One through the number on your card. If you shared card or identity details, ask the bank to freeze or reissue the card and review recent transactions. Watch for follow-up calls or texts claiming to be from the bank, and never read out one-time codes. Defenders should block rympc.com at DNS and the email gateway, and search logs for users who visited it after 2026-09-24.
