PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

rucabit.com is an impersonation phishing site. It presents itself as a legitimate service so visitors will trust it with their accounts or money. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-05. On 2026-10-19 it was still online and serving content behind a protection layer, so it remains an active risk.

How the scam works

Impersonation sites copy the name, look and flow of a service people already use. Victims are then led to sign in, deposit funds or link a wallet, believing they are on the real platform. Anything entered goes to the operators. That can include passwords, one-time codes, recovery details or transferred crypto, and stolen crypto cannot be recovered. Visitors are first greeted by a page titled "Just a moment...", which is a browser-check screen rather than branded content, while our classification rests on the impersonation behind it.

Evidence

Five of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-19: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That count is modest, so many browsers and security tools will still let the site load without a warning. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, meaning other researchers have tied it to malicious activity. Among blocklists, only PhishDestroy currently lists it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-07-13 through Fewmoretaps OU d/b/a Trustname.com. It was flagged about eight weeks later, a short lifespan typical of throwaway phishing domains. It sits behind Cloudflare's network (CLOUDFLARENET, US), which hides the real origin server and supplies the browser-check page visitors see first. Its certificate, issued by Google Trust Services (WE1), only means the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about whether the site is honest.

What to do

If you signed in on rucabit.com, change that password immediately, along with any account that reuses it. Then turn on app-based two-factor authentication and review recent logins. If you sent funds or were asked for extra fees to unlock a balance, stop paying, keep the transaction records and report the incident to your exchange and local authorities. If you connected a wallet, revoke any approvals granted during that session. Move assets to a fresh wallet if you entered a seed phrase. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add it to mail and web filtering.
