ripvox.com hosted an impersonation phishing page titled "Log in to thekatos", built to pass as the sign-in screen of the thekatos service and aimed at its users. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-05. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, and as of 2026-10-19 its domain no longer resolves in DNS. A dead page does not undo credentials already captured, so anyone who used it should still act.
How the scam works
A fake login page copies the look and wording of a real service so that a visitor arriving from a link in an email, chat message, ad or search result types in their username and password without suspicion. Here the page presented itself as the thekatos login. Whatever is typed goes to the operators, who can then sign in as the victim, take over the account, read or misuse its contents, and try the same password on other services. Some kits also prompt for one-time codes to get past two-factor authentication in real time.
Evidence
Vendor coverage was thin. On 2026-09-06 only 3 of 90 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: CRDF, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. PhishDestroy lists it on its own blocklist, and the domain appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers had also linked it to malicious activity. The low engine count reflects how briefly the page was live, not a clean bill of health.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-07-09 through Fewmoretaps OU d/b/a Trustname.com, about two months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap fits a domain that was registered, held for a while, then put into use. Traffic was routed through Cloudflare (CLOUDFLARENET, US), which conceals the server that actually hosted the phishing content. The page lasted roughly six days after detection before going dark.
What to do
If you entered your thekatos login on this page, change that password immediately from the official app or a bookmarked address. Do the same on any other account that shares the password. Turn on two-factor authentication, sign out all active sessions, and review recent account activity and recovery settings for changes you did not make. Defenders should block the domain, search mail and proxy logs for visits on or after 2026-09-05, and force password resets for any users who reached it.
