PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

net-hook.com is an impersonation phishing site that poses as a legitimate service to steal from crypto users. MetaMask, SEAL and ChainPatrol all list it, which points to wallet holders as the intended victims. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-29. The site went offline on 2026-09-30, its content was blocked at the provider level, and it was still dead when rechecked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy the look of a trusted brand so visitors act without stopping to verify. They might type a seed phrase or password, or approve a wallet request. The page title showed only "Loading…", a generic placeholder rather than a brand name, even though we classify the site as impersonation. A visitor who follows the fake prompts can give attackers control of an account or wallet, and stolen crypto is rarely recoverable.

Evidence

Six of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-29: ChainPatrol, BitDefender, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Kaspersky and SOCRadar. That is a small count, but it includes a crypto-specialist scanner alongside major endpoint vendors. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing. MetaMask and SEAL carry it on their blocklists, so many wallet users would see a warning before the page loads. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-09 through Fewmoretaps OU d/b/a Trustname.com. It was detected 20 days later and dead the day after, the short lifespan typical of disposable phishing domains. It sat behind Cloudflare, Inc. with a Canadian-geolocated address. That setup masks the real origin server, so takedown requests go through the network provider. Its Google Trust Services certificate is automatically issued, so the browser padlock proved nothing about legitimacy.

What to do

If you entered a seed phrase or private key on net-hook.com, treat that wallet as compromised. Move any remaining funds to a new wallet created on a clean device. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, review and revoke token approvals you do not recognize. If you entered a password, change it everywhere you reused it and turn on app-based 2FA. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and hunt for earlier visits in logs. They should also watch for lookalike domains registered through the same channels.
