How the scam works
Impersonation pages copy the look and wording of a service people already trust, then ask for something valuable, usually a login, a wallet recovery phrase, a wallet connection or a payment. The "Met tax" title points to a lure built around a supposed tax or fee, a common hook for pressuring victims into paying or into "verifying" their wallet before they can settle a charge. Anyone who gives up a seed phrase or approves a transaction can lose the wallet's assets permanently. An empty front page does not make the domain harmless, because the same name can be reused for the next campaign.

On 2026-10-18, 16 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Emsisoft, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data and Gridinsoft. Spamhaus lists it in its domain blocklist under the spam category. Its inclusion in the MetaMask and SEAL lists means wallet-focused defenders reached the same verdict independently. Two AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference the domain.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through GoDaddy.com, LLC on 2026-10-13, and PhishDestroy caught it the next day. That timing is typical of disposable phishing domains that are set up and used almost immediately. The site is hosted in the United States on the Zillion Network Inc. network at 154.81.136.224. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives it a browser padlock, which shows only that the connection is encrypted, not that the site is legitimate.
