PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

meet-us-at-lakeleand.com is an impersonation phishing page. Its name reads like a casual meetup invitation and contains the misspelling "lakeleand," the kind of lure that is easy to click in a message or social post. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-10-07, and it was still online and serving content on 2026-10-19. Its presence on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists points to crypto wallet users as the intended audience.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages borrow the look or context of something the victim trusts, then ask for an action that hands over control: entering credentials, typing a recovery phrase, or connecting a wallet and signing a request. Whatever is surrendered is used to take over the account or move funds out. The page currently carries the title "My WordPress," the default label of a WordPress install, while we classify the site as impersonation phishing.

Evidence

Six of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-10-07: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky and VIPRE. That count is modest, but the vendors are independent of each other. The domain also appears on blocklists maintained by MetaMask, SEAL and PhishDestroy, so wallet-focused defenders reached the same verdict separately. It is referenced in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through TUCOWS.COM, CO. on 2026-10-03, just four days before we detected it. That short gap is typical of throwaway phishing domains set up shortly before they are used. It is hosted on Google Cloud Platform in the US. The Let's Encrypt certificate gives the page a padlock in the browser, but that only shows the connection is encrypted, not that the site is trustworthy.

What to do

Do not open the site or enter anything on it. If you typed a password there, change it wherever you reuse it and turn on two-factor authentication. If you entered a seed phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move any remaining assets to a newly created wallet. If you connected a wallet and signed anything, revoke the approvals you granted with a token-approval checker. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and the mail gateway and search their logs for visits since 2026-10-03.
