PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

dptokr.com is a phishing page that impersonates Amazon under the title "Amazon Refund Check," aimed at Amazon shoppers who are told money is waiting for them. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-25. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still reported alive, but its DNS had gone inactive and it was no longer serving the phishing content.

How the scam works

Refund lures like this one usually arrive by email, SMS or a sponsored link claiming an order was cancelled or overcharged and that a refund is pending. The "Amazon Refund Check" page then asks the victim to sign in and confirm their identity or payment card so the money can be returned. Whatever is typed in goes to the operators, who can take over the Amazon account, reuse the password elsewhere, or charge the card. Some versions also ask for a one-time code, which lets the attacker get past two-factor protection in real time.

Evidence

On 2026-10-07, 17 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including BitDefender, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF and CyRadar. That is a meaningful spread of independent vendors for a page only weeks old. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and identified Amazon branding on the page, which matches our classification. PhishDestroy lists the domain on its blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through TUCOWS.COM, CO. on 2026-09-21, and PhishDestroy caught it four days later. That short gap fits a throwaway domain set up for a single campaign. It was hosted on AVA HOST SRL in Moldova, an unusual location for anything genuinely tied to Amazon. Its TLS certificate from TrustAsia's LiteSSL RSA CA 2025 shows the browser padlock, which only confirms an encrypted connection and says nothing about the site being legitimate.

What to do

If you entered your Amazon password here, change it right away, along with any other account that shares it, and turn on or reset two-factor authentication. Check your Amazon account for unfamiliar orders, addresses or linked devices. If you entered card details, contact your bank to block the card and dispute any unknown charges. Real Amazon refunds go back to your original payment method automatically and never need you to sign in through an outside page. Defenders should block the domain and its hosting IP, search mail and proxy logs for visits, and report the lure messages to Amazon.
