PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

com-sw.icu is an impersonation phishing page that presented itself under the bland title "Service Status". Its presence on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists points to crypto users as the intended audience. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-17, one day after registration. The site went offline on 2026-09-19 and was still dead, with its DNS inactive, on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

A status page is an effective lure because it suggests an outage, a security incident or a pending account action, and it pushes visitors to "verify", "restore access" or "resync" before thinking it through. In schemes like this, the next step is usually a prompt for a login, a recovery phrase or a wallet connection, and that input goes straight to the operators. A stolen seed phrase or a signed malicious approval lets them empty the wallet. The page title shows only a generic "Service Status" label, while our classification is impersonation of a trusted service.

Evidence

Five of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-17: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data and Sophos. That is a modest count, but it came within a day of registration. The stronger signals are elsewhere. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing, MetaMask and SEAL both block it alongside PhishDestroy, and four AlienVault OTX pulses reference it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. on 2026-09-16 and was caught the next day. It was dead three days after registration, a short lifespan typical of throwaway campaign domains on cheap TLDs like .icu. Traffic ran through Cloudflare, Inc. with a Canadian location, which hides the real origin server. The site used a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock shown to visitors said nothing about whether it was legitimate.

What to do

If you typed a seed phrase or private key into this page, treat that wallet as compromised and move the funds to a fresh wallet created on a clean device. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, review and revoke token approvals with a reputable approval checker. If you entered a password, change it everywhere you reused it and turn on app-based 2FA. Defenders should block com-sw.icu at the DNS and proxy level and search mail and chat logs for links to it from mid-September 2026 onward.
