PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

bigelowtea.shop is a fraudulent storefront that passes itself off as the official Bigelow Tea store. Its page title copies the brand's own wording: "Official Site - Shop for Tea Online at the Bigelow Tea Store | Bigelow Tea". It targets ordinary shoppers looking for discounted tea and gifts. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-16, and it was still online with its shop content live on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake shops like this copy a real brand's catalogue and look, then advertise prices low enough to make buyers act fast. The shopper fills a cart, enters a shipping address and pays, usually by card. The order either never arrives or a cheap substitute shows up, and the checkout form gives the operators the buyer's name, address, email and payment card details, which can be reused for further fraud. The .shop domain and the "Official Site" title are what make the store look like a genuine Bigelow outlet.

Evidence

urlscan.io rated the site malicious and specifically flagged it as a fake shop, which is the strongest independent signal here. On VirusTotal, 4 of 92 engines flagged it on 2026-10-16: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, G-Data and Gridinsoft. That count is low, so most browser and antivirus protections will not warn visitors yet. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses and is on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-05-21, about five months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests the domain was registered in advance and put into use later. The site is hosted in the US on the Malakmadze Web LLC network. Its certificate is a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock only means the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about whether the shop is the real Bigelow Tea.

What to do

Do not buy anything from bigelowtea.shop. If you already paid, contact your card issuer or bank right away, report the charge as fraud, ask for a chargeback and have the card replaced. Watch your statements for further unauthorized charges, and expect phishing emails aimed at the address you used at checkout. Report the site to Bigelow Tea so the brand can pursue a takedown. Security teams should block the domain and its hosting IP and check proxy logs for any user purchases.
