PhishDestroy threat report
x-reset-link.com is an impersonation phishing domain whose name is built to pass as a password or account reset link. MetaMask and SEAL both list it, which places it inside crypto-scam campaigns. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-08. The site went offline on 2026-09-21, and when last checked on 2026-10-19 its DNS was no longer resolving.
Reset-link lures play on alarm. The victim gets a message saying their account is locked, compromised or about to be suspended, and is pushed to click a "reset" link right away. That link opens a page that copies the real service, where the victim types their username, password and often a one-time 2FA code, and the attackers take over the account as it happens. A hijacked social or crypto-linked account is then used to push further scams to the victim's followers. The page title showed a Porkbun "domain for sale" parking notice, while we classified the domain as an impersonation phishing page.
On 2026-09-21, 13 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, among them BitDefender, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, CRDF, CyRadar, alphaMountain.ai and Google Safe Browsing. Google Safe Browsing separately classifies it as social engineering, so major browsers would have shown a warning. Spamhaus lists it in its DBL as a phishing domain, and it appears on the PhishDestroy, MetaMask and SEAL blocklists. Three AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it, so other researchers tracked it independently.
The domain was registered through Porkbun LLC on 2025-08-23, about a year before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap points to a domain held in reserve until a campaign needed it, not one bought for immediate use. It was hosted on Amazon network space in the US.
If you entered a password on this site, change it now on the real service and on any account where you reuse it. Then sign out all other sessions and review recovery email and phone settings for changes. Turn on app-based or hardware-key 2FA, and assume any code you typed was used. If you typed a wallet recovery phrase anywhere in this flow, move your funds to a new wallet created with a fresh phrase. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and mail gateways and search mail logs for messages containing it, because the same lure usually returns on new reset-themed domains.
