PhishDestroy threat report
updater-gmeet.com borrows the Google Meet name, combining the familiar "gmeet" shorthand with the word "updater" so that a link to it reads like a routine software or plugin update. PhishDestroy classifies it as credential phishing and first flagged it on 2026-09-19. As of 2026-10-19 the domain was still online and serving content, so anyone who receives a link to it should treat it as an active threat.
Fake meeting-update lures usually arrive as part of a scheduling conversation. The victim gets an invite or a message saying they must update or verify before joining a call, and the link leads to a page asking them to sign in. Whatever they type, such as an email password, a Google account login or a one-time code, goes straight to the operator, who can then take over the account and use it to reach contacts or linked services. The page currently carries a generic title, "updater gmeet Resources and Information.", which resembles a parked-domain listing, but PhishDestroy classifies the domain as a credential phishing page.
On VirusTotal, 6 of 91 engines flag the domain as of 2026-09-29: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and Webroot. That count is modest, so many security tools will still let it through. More telling is the crypto-security community's response: the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists list it alongside PhishDestroy, which places this lure within campaigns aimed at crypto users. Two AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it.
The domain was registered through Namecheap on 2025-12-23, roughly nine months before PhishDestroy flagged it. That gap suggests it was held in reserve before being put to use. It resolves to an address on the QWINS LTD network in Finland.
If you entered a password on this site, change it immediately from the real service and anywhere else you reused it. Then sign out other sessions and review recovery email, phone and forwarding settings for changes. Enable app-based or hardware-key 2FA, and if you shared a one-time code, assume the account was accessed and check its recent activity. Be wary of any meeting invite that insists on an "update" before you can join, and only join calls through the official app or a link you confirmed independently. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and the mail gateway and search logs for users who visited it.
