PhishDestroy threat report
sparkasse-kiel.com is a credential phishing site that impersonates Sparkasse, the German savings bank group. It uses the city name Kiel to look like a local branch portal. It targets Sparkasse online-banking customers, especially those who expect a regional address. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-03. As of 2026-10-19 the domain is still registered, but its DNS is inactive, so the fake login page is not currently loading.
The page is titled "Sparkasse Online-Banking - Sicherer Login" ("secure login") and copies the familiar Sparkasse sign-in screen. Victims usually reach it through an SMS or email that warns of a blocked account, a security update or a pending pushTAN approval. Anything typed into the form goes straight to the operators: the Anmeldename or Legitimations-ID, the PIN, and often TAN codes or the phone number linked to the account. With these, criminals can log in, register their own device for app-based approval and send transfers from the victim's account.
On 2026-10-06, 17 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. They include BitDefender, Fortinet, G-Data, Emsisoft, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, CRDF, alphaMountain.ai and Google Safe Browsing. Google Safe Browsing lists it as SOCIAL_ENGINEERING, so Chrome, Firefox and Safari users should see a warning page. urlscan.io rated the site malicious and recognised the Sparkasse brand on the page. The domain appears in five AlienVault OTX threat pulses and on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
The domain was registered through Name.com, Inc. on 2026-09-30, just three days before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap is typical of throwaway phishing domains that are set up quickly and used briefly. The site was hosted in the United States on Amazon's network (AS16509), far from the German customers it targeted. Its free Let's Encrypt certificate gave visitors a padlock icon, which proves nothing about who runs the site.
If you entered your Sparkasse login on this page, call your branch or the Sparkasse emergency line now and have online banking blocked. Ask them to check for new registered devices or pushTAN pairings, and review recent transfers for anything you did not authorise. Then change your PIN through the official app or website, and use your bank's sperr-notruf 116 116 service if cards or access data are involved. Treat any further calls or messages about "securing" your account with suspicion. Defenders should block the domain, search mail and SMS gateway logs for links to it, and flag users who clicked.
