PhishDestroy threat report
safepso.my is a fake cryptocurrency exchange that borrowed the CME Group name to present itself as a decentralized trading platform with low fees and high liquidity. It targets crypto traders and would-be investors looking for a cheap, liquid place to trade. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-15, only two days after it was registered. The site has been offline since 2026-09-29, and as of 2026-10-19 its DNS no longer resolves.
The page presented itself as "CME Group: A decentralized trading platform with low fees and high liquidity," using a well-known financial brand to look credible. Fake exchanges like this typically let visitors open an account, deposit crypto and watch an invented balance grow on a dashboard that shows fabricated trades and profits. When users try to withdraw, the platform demands extra fees, taxes or verification deposits, or simply freezes the account. Everything sent to the platform's deposit addresses is lost, along with any personal or identity details handed over during sign-up.
On 2026-09-25, VirusTotal showed 6 of 91 engines flagging the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That detection rate is modest, so most security products would not have warned a visitor on their own. The classification is also backed by the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, in addition to PhishDestroy.
The domain was registered on 2026-09-13 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. It resolved to 188.114.97.3 on Cloudflare, Inc. infrastructure, geolocated to Canada, which places it behind Cloudflare's network rather than showing the origin server. It used a TLS certificate from Let's Encrypt (YE1), so the padlock in the browser said nothing about whether the site was legitimate.
If you registered on safepso.my, change that password everywhere you reused it and enable two-factor authentication on your real exchange and email accounts. Do not pay any withdrawal fee, tax or unlock charge that the platform or its support agents demand, because these requests are a second round of the same theft. Record the deposit addresses and transaction hashes of any funds you sent, then report them to your local police and to the exchange you sent them from. If you shared ID documents, watch for identity misuse and treat follow-up contacts offering to recover funds as further scams. Defenders should block the domain and keep watching for new look-alike domains that use the CME Group name.
