PhishDestroy threat report
owownn.com posed as Blackwell's, the bookseller, using the shop's own tagline as its page title: "Blackwell's, books for life and for learning." It targeted shoppers looking for books and study materials who believed they were on the genuine store. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-13. The site has been offline since 2026-09-14, and when last checked on 2026-10-19 its content was blocked by the provider.
Impersonation shops like this copy a trusted retailer's branding so the checkout feels familiar. A visitor browses what looks like Blackwell's catalogue, then is asked to sign in or pay, and the details typed into those forms go to the operators instead of the bookseller. Victims typically lose their account password, their payment card number with its security code, and their billing address. Any order placed is never fulfilled. The stolen card data is then used for fraudulent purchases or resold.
On the same day PhishDestroy caught it, 14 of 89 VirusTotal engines marked the domain as malicious. Among them were alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and Kaspersky, a broad mix of independent vendors. The domain also appears in one AlienVault OTX threat pulse. That kind of quick, multi-vendor agreement on a brand-new domain points strongly to deliberate impersonation.
The domain was registered through Namecheap on 2026-03-20. It sat for nearly six months before the phishing page surfaced and was detected, a gap that can help a domain build a cleaner reputation before use. Traffic ran through Cloudflare's network, with the address geolocated to Canada, which hides the actual origin server. The Let's Encrypt certificate gave the fake shop a padlock icon, a reminder that HTTPS alone says nothing about who runs a site.
If you entered a card number on owownn.com, call your bank to cancel the card and dispute any unfamiliar charges. If you reused a Blackwell's or other shopping password there, change it everywhere it was used and turn on two-factor authentication where available. Be wary of follow-up emails or calls about a "pending order," since your contact details may now be in the operators' hands. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and web proxies, and search mail and proxy logs for users who reached it around 2026-09-13.
