It targets people looking for hands-off crypto income, using the Mercado Bitrium name to sell an automated trading product. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-18. It was still online and serving content when we last checked on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
Pages built around an "automated trading tools" pitch usually promise that software trades crypto on the visitor's behalf with little risk. The visitor is pushed to leave a name, email and phone number. Sites like this commonly pass those details to sales agents who press for a first deposit. The account dashboard then shows invented gains to encourage larger payments. When the victim tries to withdraw, new "fees" or "taxes" appear, and the deposited money, along with any personal or identity data handed over, is gone.
Evidence
On 2026-09-29, 17 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. The vendors include BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, CyRadar and the Vietnamese anti-scam group Chong Lua Dao. These are independent vendors with different detection methods. The domain also appears in five AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it as well. PhishDestroy lists it on its own blocklist.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-02-26 through MainReg Inc., nearly seven months before PhishDestroy detected it. That long lead time suggests the site was set up well ahead of its campaign or ran unnoticed for months. It is hosted on Snel.com B.V. in the Netherlands. The site uses a free, domain-validated ZeroSSL certificate, so the browser padlock only means the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about who runs the site.
What to do
Do not deposit money or sign up on mercadobitriumsoft.com. If you shared your phone number, expect follow-up calls offering "account managers" or recovery help, and decline them. Recovery offers are a common second-stage scam. If you already paid, stop all further payments, especially any "withdrawal fee." Contact your bank or card issuer immediately and report the transactions to local police or your fraud authority, keeping screenshots and payment receipts. If you uploaded an ID, watch for identity misuse. Security teams should block the domain and its hosting address 185.62.57.28, and alert users to Mercado Bitrium-branded trading lures.
