Overview

apps.bitstampcoin.com is a phishing site that impersonates Bitstamp, the cryptocurrency exchange. It targets exchange customers and crypto holders who mistake the bitstampcoin name for an official Bitstamp service. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-09-13. It was still online and serving content on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Sites like this borrow a trusted exchange's name so visitors will log in, connect a wallet or follow deposit instructions without questioning them. Visitors can lose exchange login credentials, 2FA codes, or funds sent to addresses the operators control. The page title is Chinese for "audio visualization player." This does not match a Bitstamp page, but the domain is classified as Bitstamp impersonation.

Evidence

On 2026-09-24, 15 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. That is a meaningful share for a subdomain on a fairly new name. The detecting vendors include ChainPatrol, BitDefender, CRDF, CyRadar, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data and Gridinsoft. Besides PhishDestroy, the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists also list it. Both are crypto-focused lists, so wallet users who rely on them get a warning before the page loads.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. on 2026-02-01, about seven months before PhishDestroy detected it. The apps subdomain sits on a separate, brand-like parent name, which keeps it off Bitstamp's real infrastructure. Traffic runs through Cloudflare's network, geolocated to Canada, so the IP address reflects Cloudflare's edge rather than the server that actually hosts the content.

What to do

If you entered Bitstamp credentials here, change your password on the real Bitstamp site right away. Reset your 2FA, and review active sessions, API keys and withdrawal addresses. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, revoke approvals granted around the time of your visit and move remaining funds to a fresh wallet. Never send deposits or "verification" payments to addresses this site shows you. Defenders should block apps.bitstampcoin.com and the parent bitstampcoin.com, and report it to Bitstamp and Cloudflare to support takedown.
