PhishDestroy threat report
5ginvestmentnews.com is an impersonation phishing page built around a 5G investment news theme. It targets people hunting for the next big tech or crypto opportunity. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-15, and it went offline two days later, on 2026-09-17. As of 2026-10-19 the domain no longer resolves in DNS.
Sites like this dress up as a news outlet or trusted publication. They run articles that seem to report on a hot investment, often with borrowed logos, fake quotes or invented endorsements, so the pitch feels like journalism rather than an advert. Readers are then pushed toward a sign-up form or a "partner" platform. There they hand over their name, phone number and email, and are then called and pressured into depositing money that cannot be withdrawn. The page title showed only a generic "Just a moment..." browser-check screen rather than branded content, while our classification is based on the impersonation behind it.
Five of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-15: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, but it comes from independent vendors that reached the same verdict on the same day PhishDestroy listed it. The domain also appears in one AlienVault OTX threat pulse. This means other researchers tracked it as part of known malicious activity. PhishDestroy is the only blocklist carrying it so far.
The domain was registered through NAMECHEAP INC on 2020-01-30, more than six years before it surfaced as a phishing page. A name that old can slip past filters that distrust freshly registered domains, which may explain why it was put to use so late. Traffic ran through Cloudflare, Inc. (IP 188.114.97.3, geolocated to Canada), which hides the real origin server from visitors.
If you filled in a form on this site, expect follow-up calls, messages or emails from "account managers" or "brokers". Do not take them, and block the numbers. If you sent money, contact your bank or card issuer at once to dispute the payment. Report it to your national fraud authority, and refuse any offer to "recover" funds for a fee, which is a common second-stage scam. Change any password you reused on the site. Defenders should block the domain and check logs for visits around 2026-09-15 to 2026-09-17.
