PhishDestroy threat report
safe-ledgerapp---eng.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page that posed as Ledger's official Ledger Live app under the title "Ledger Live App – Manage Your Crypto". It targeted owners of Ledger hardware wallets who were searching for the companion software or responding to a fake update or security prompt. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-15. The site has been offline since 2026-09-23 after the hosting provider blocked its content, and it was still down when last checked on 2026-10-19.
Fake Ledger Live sites rely on the brand's reputation and on the "safe" and "eng" labels in the hostname to look like an official download or support portal. Victims are typically told that their device needs verification, a firmware fix or a wallet restore, and are then asked to type their 24-word recovery phrase into the page. Ledger never asks for that phrase online. Anyone who enters it gives the attacker full control of every account derived from it. The attacker can then empty the wallet from any device, and the hardware wallet offers no protection once the seed is exposed.
On 2026-09-22, 13 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. They included BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Fortinet, G-Data, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai and LevelBlue. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and detected Ledger branding on it. The domain is also listed by MetaMask and SEAL alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet users with those protections would have seen a warning.
The page was published on Cloudflare Pages on 2026-09-13, just two days before PhishDestroy caught it. That short gap is typical of throwaway phishing deployments on free hosting subdomains. Traffic was served through Cloudflare's network at 188.114.97.9, which geolocates to Canada, though that reflects Cloudflare's edge rather than the operator's location. Its Google Trust Services certificate is issued automatically to every pages.dev site, so the padlock said nothing about legitimacy.
If you typed your recovery phrase into this site, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a new seed on your Ledger, either by resetting the device or using a new one, and move any remaining funds to the new addresses immediately. If you only browsed the page and entered nothing, no action is needed beyond clearing any download you took from it. Install Ledger Live only from Ledger's official site, and never enter your seed anywhere except on the device itself. Defenders should block the domain and watch for similar Ledger-themed pages.dev subdomains.
