PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

passivetrxglobal.com is an impersonation phishing site whose name promises passive income in TRX, the TRON network's token. That pitch targets crypto holders looking for effortless staking or mining returns. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-09, and the site was still online and serving content when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page title is just the bare domain name, so the site presents no brand of its own at first glance. Its credibility comes from the "passive TRX" framing and from copying the look of a legitimate service. Schemes of this type usually ask visitors to deposit TRX or to sign in and link a wallet, then display growing "earnings" that cannot be withdrawn. Victims lose whatever they send, and the operators often demand extra fees before any payout. Wallet credentials or account logins entered on the page also go to the operators.

Evidence

Seven of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-10-13: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, Netcraft, SOCRadar and desenmascara.me. That is a modest count, but these vendors are independent of one another, and Netcraft and Fortinet specialise in phishing. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam. It also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tied it to malicious activity.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-07 through Cosmotown (TuringSign Inc.), only two days before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap fits a site built for a quick campaign. It is hosted on FranTech Solutions' PONYNET network in the United States. Its free Let's Encrypt certificate gives it a padlock icon, but the padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the site is honest.

What to do

Do not deposit anything, and do not pay any "activation", "tax" or "withdrawal" fee the site asks for, because that money will not come back. If you connected a TRON wallet, review and revoke any permissions it granted, and move funds to a new wallet if you typed in a seed phrase or private key. If you reused a password on the site, change it everywhere you used it and turn on two-factor authentication. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, and report it to the registrar and hosting provider to speed up takedown.
