How the scam works The page carries the title "Download Base - Your home for everything onchain," copying Coinbase's branding so it looks like an official place to get the app. Fake wallet download pages like this usually take one of two routes. Some push a counterfeit installer or app that captures credentials and recovery phrases. Others lead visitors into a "restore" or "verify" step that asks for the seed phrase or prompts a wallet connection. Anyone who hands over a recovery phrase or signs a malicious request can have their wallet emptied, and those transfers cannot be reversed.
