Category: General dev
Where it runs: Runs locally (nothing you enter is uploaded)

Identify the browser, version, operating system and mobile or desktop type from a User-Agent string. The page opens with your own browser's string; paste one from a log or a phishing kit to compare.

## Example input

iPhone Safari

```
Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 17_5 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/17.5 Mobile/15E148 Safari/604.1
```

Browser Safari 17.5, OS iOS, Device Mobile. The iOS version itself is not shown.

## FAQ

### How reliable is the result?

It uses a few regular expressions: Chrome and Firefox on iOS show as Safari, Samsung Internet and Brave show as Chrome, iPads that send a desktop string show as macOS, and bots are not identified. Browsers also freeze values, so Windows 11 appears as Windows 10/11 and most Macs as macOS 10.15.7.

### Can I trust a User-Agent string?

No. It is a self-reported header that any script can set, and phishing kits read it to show a harmless page to scanners and bots while real phones get the phishing page. Treat it as a hint, not proof of a device.

### Is my User-Agent sent anywhere?

No. The page reads your browser's string locally from navigator.userAgent and parses everything in the browser; nothing is uploaded.
