# Unix Timestamp Converter

URL: https://phishdestroy.io/developer-tools/unix-timestamp-converter
Category: General dev
Where it runs: Runs locally (nothing you enter is uploaded)

Convert a Unix timestamp in seconds or milliseconds to a UTC and a local date, or a date back to a timestamp. Unix times turn up in DKIM-Signature t= and x= tags, JWT iat and exp claims and many API logs.

## Example input

Timestamp in seconds

```
1700000000
```

Shows 2023-11-14 22:13:20.000 UTC and, on the second line, the same moment in your browser's time zone.

## FAQ

### What can it convert?

A timestamp in seconds or milliseconds (you choose the unit) into an ISO-style UTC date plus your local time, and a date and time picked in your local time zone back into seconds and milliseconds. The fields at the top show the current timestamp.

### Why do I get a date far in the future, or 1970?

The unit is not detected: a 13-digit millisecond value read as seconds lands tens of thousands of years ahead, and an empty field converts as 0, which is 1970-01-01 UTC. As in all Unix time, leap seconds are not counted.

### Is anything sent to a server?

No. All conversions use your browser's clock and date functions; nothing is uploaded.
