# JSONPath Evaluator (Dot Notation)

URL: https://phishdestroy.io/developer-tools/jsonpath-evaluator
Category: General dev
Where it runs: Runs locally (nothing you enter is uploaded)

Paste JSON and a dot-notation path such as $.events.0.eventDate to pull out one value, for example a date or an abuse email from an RDAP response. Only dot paths are supported, not full JSONPath.

## Example input

Goessner bookstore sample

```
{"store":{"book":[{"category":"reference","author":"Nigel Rees","title":"Sayings of the Century","price":8.95},{"category":"fiction","author":"Evelyn Waugh","title":"Sword of Honour","price":12.99}],"bicycle":{"color":"red","price":19.95}}}
```

With the default path store.book.0.title the result is Sayings of the Century; store.bicycle returns the whole bicycle object as JSON.

## FAQ

### Which JSONPath syntax is supported?

Only dot notation: an optional $ followed by member names and array indexes separated by dots, such as $.store.book.1.author. Brackets ([0] or ['key']), wildcards (*), recursive descent (..), slices and filters from RFC 9535 are not supported and return undefined.

### What does the result look like?

Exactly one value: objects and arrays are printed as indented JSON, strings and numbers as plain text, and a path that does not exist prints undefined instead of an error. Keys that contain a dot cannot be reached.

### Is the JSON sent anywhere?

No. The lookup runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
