# ASN Ranges Reference

URL: https://phishdestroy.io/developer-tools/asn-reference
Category: General dev
Where it runs: Runs locally (nothing you enter is uploaded)

A static table of Autonomous System Number ranges (public, private use, documentation and reserved) with short notes on BGP, peering, transit and IXPs. Use it to tell whether an ASN in a routing or abuse record can belong to a real network.

## Example input

Classify AS64512

```
AS64512, looked up in the table
```

64512 falls in 64512–65534, the 16-bit private-use range (RFC 6996), so it should not appear in public routing and does not identify a provider.

## FAQ

### What does the reference contain?

One table of IANA ASN ranges: 16-bit and 32-bit public space, AS_TRANS (23456), the documentation ranges 64496–64511 and 65536–65551, private use 64512–65534 and 4200000000–4294967294, and reserved 65535. Short definitions of BGP, peering, transit and IXPs follow.

### Can it tell me who runs an ASN?

No. It only classifies number ranges and has no lookup, and the upper end of the public 32-bit range it shows (401308) is a snapshot, as IANA keeps assigning new blocks to the regional registries. For the operator and abuse contact of an IP, use the Abuse Contact Lookup.

### Does the page contact other services?

No. The table is static text; the two external links in it are ordinary links that open only if you click them.
